In a time when traveling the world isn’t as simple as it used to be, a site that lets you experience the view from a window halfway around the world sounds pretty interesting. That’s where Window Swap comes in.
Developed by Sonali Ranjit and Vaishnav Balasubramaniam, a husband and wife team from Singapore, as a quarantine project, Window Swap is an easy and ingenious way to travel all around the world, from the comfort of your own home. All you have to do is visit the Window Swap website and click on the “Open a new window somewhere in the world” button to instantly be transported in a stranger’s home in cities like London, Bangalore or Jakarta from the windows of whom you can admire the views they wake up to every day.

“My husband and I were growing bored with the view from our window – so we created a place on the internet where you can open a new window somewhere else in the world!” Sonali Ranjit recently told Bored Panda. “A place where strangers can swap views from their windows to helps us all feel a little bit better till we can (responsibly) explore our beautiful planet again.”

According to a description on its official website, Window Swap “is here to fill that deep void in our wanderlust hearts by allowing us to look through someone else’s window, somewhere in the world, for a while.” It’s probably going to be a while until travel becomes mainstream again, so that makes sense.

Apart from admiring views from over 15 cities around the world, visitor are encouraged to add their own windows and views to the pool. Uploaded videos have to be around 10 minutes long, be shot in HD and horizontally, and feature the uploader’s first name and location for credits.
