Using the World’s Brightest Flashlight Feels Like You’re Holding the Sun in Your Hand

The aptly named IMALENT MS32 Brightest Flashlight is capable of outputting up to 200,000 lumens of light, more than any other commercially available flashlight.

Imagine having the ability to turn night into day in the palm of yourself and you kind of get a sense of what using the world’s brightest flashlight feels and looks like. The Imalent MS32 is so incredibly powerful that the only other flashlight you can even compare it to is the Imalent MS18, the previous holder of the title of ‘world’s brightest flashlight’. And that one was virtually half as powerful as the MS32, with a peak brightness of “just” 100,000 lumens. The LED-powered light beam of the Imalent MS32 can reach as far as 1,618 meters and is the equivalent of 100 car lights in terms of brightness.

“If you are seeking the world’s brightest flashlight, the IMALENT MS32 is your best choice,” Chinese company Imalent boasts on its website. “There is no need to spend time searching for other super-bright flashlights because the IMALENT MS32, with its 200,000 lumens, surpasses all others and turns night into day with its unparalleled illumination.”

The above paragraph sounds like the kind of marketing talk we usually hear from corporations, but in this case, pretty much everyone agrees that the MS32 lives up to the hype. Not only can it reach a peak brightness of 200,000 lumens on turn-on, but it can easily maintain a brightness of around 40,000 lumens for up to 40 minutes. And if you only use it on the low setting of 80 lumens, the massive replaceable battery will literally last for hundreds of hours – 345 hours, according to Imalent – on a full charge.

The world’s brightest flashlight is powered by 32 CREE XHP70.2 LEDs, strategically arranged to provide maximum brightness with the help of a 13.4 cm reflector. You must wonder how it can produce up to 200,000 lumens without overheating. Imalent claims that the MS32 relies on an advanced cooling system to dissipate heat and keep it running at impressive brightness levels for long periods of time. And, according to most online reviews we checked, the Imalent MS32 does not suffer from any heat-related issues.

The only negative feedback we could find on the world’s brightest flashlight was that it was nothing more than a gimmick, as 200,000 lumens is way above overkill level, and its price. The Imalent MS32 is priced at $749.95 on the Imalent website, making it one of the most expensive flashlights money can buy. But his thing lets you turn night into day, how can you put a price tag on that level of awesomeness?

Remember when this 2,300-lumen mini-flashlight was considered overkill? Now that thing looks like a child’s toy compared to the Imalent MS32.
