Putin Fishing Doll

Russians worship their former president Vladimir Putin, and now they have created a doll of him in a very popular scene.

We all remember the photos of shirtless Vladimir Putin fishing while standing on a rock. Many praised the Russian leader for his fitness and the photos circled around the globe. Now his loyal subjects have created a doll of him in that famous circumstance. I have to say the detail of Putin’s muscles are quite impressive. Good job comrades, your creation is a worthy adversary for the Obama action-figure and the Hitler Doll

Astrology Condoms

People love sex and zodiac predictions, so why not mix the two?

Unfortunately the funny-looking Astrology Condoms are the product of a very small Japanese company called  Yamashita Latex, and can only be found in some shops around Japan. The company doesn’t even have a website where you can order their products. You won’t find Astrology Condoms in any Western country, so if you have friends in Japan call them and ask them to send you some.

I have to admit this is a great way to market your condoms.

World’s Fastest Volvo

Volvo is known as one of the safest cars in the world, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make them go fast too.

Spotted on the streets of Johor, Malaysia, this car has to be the fastest Volvo in the world. As you can see in the photos, it has no less than 10 exhausts, countless gauges showing God knows what information, and the stickers on the back warn anyone foolish enough to want to race it, that it has fuel injection and twin turbo.

Not much more info on the web about this beast, but what more can anyone say really? The photos speak a lot louder than words.

Recompute – The Environment-Friendly PC

Are you worried your PC could be more environment-friendly? You’re right, but don’t worry, thanks to Recompute you don’t have to give up web-surfing.

Recompute is a green concept that means to completely revolutionize the computer industry. Instead of a plastic, aluminum or iron case, Recompute uses a recyclable and renewable case, made out of corrugated cardboard.

Recompute uses only 3 electronic components, a motherboarde with processor and memory, a power-source and a hard-drive. It’s designed to allow the user to take parts like the keyboard or mouse from an old comuter. The electronic parts can be recycled easily, without having to use tools.

Home-Made Motorcycle

Are you sad because you can’t afford to buy that Harley-Davidson chopper you’ve always dreamed of? That’s ok, the economic crysis hit us all hard, but don’t worry you can build a fine chopper yourself, like this guy did.

This Chinese dude proves to us all that if you want something really bad you can achieve it. He wanted a motorcycle, but he didn’t have the cash for a new one, so he built it from junk. It may not be the best-looking chopper you’ve ever seen, but it works, and that’s all that matters to this guy.

So if you can’t buy a bike, build it. It’s not easy but  people built greater things, like a home-made submarine, a back-yard rollercoaster and even an Ironman costum.

Greenpeace vs. Russian Police – Part 2

Believe it or not the same Russian Greenpeace activist got busted by the police again, just days after the first incident.

If there’s one think I admire about the poor environmental activist who faced the Russian police a few days back, it’s his persistence. The man actually got released by the police andreturned in front of Moscow’s City Hall, tocontinue his protest to Russia building incineration plants.

Sadly for the Greenpeace guy he wasn’t more successful than the first time. The police came and picked him up again, this time in a smaller car, so they made him take out his trash-can costume to fit. Third time’s a charm maybe?

Tough Guy Race 2009

Known as the toughest competition in the world, the Tough Guy Race asked its question again in 2009, “Are you strong enough?”

More than 5,000 people gathered at the start line of the Tough Guy Race this year, only to face the torture of a 13 km endurance course, designed by a former Grenadier Guardsman named Billy Wilson, in 1986. Competitors had to run and crawl through mud and flames, while dodging smoke bombs, barbed wire and electric charges.

The Tough Guy course is so dangerous the competitors had to sign a disclaimer saying “It’s my own bloody fault for being here”. Accordingto the official site of the Tough Guy Race, there were many broken arms and legs tis year, but luckily no one lost their lives.

This year’s competition looks even worse than Tough Guy Race 2008.

Not Your Usual Barbie Dolls

How about a redneck or trailer-trash doll for your kids? No? It’s your loss!

I knew the doll-making industry was going downhill ever since that Gay Bob – The World’s First Gay Doll hit toy-store shelves. Trailer trash dolls were first produced in 1998 and their first star doll came out in 2005. Her name was Trash Talkin’ Turleen and it was an instant hit. The doll comes with indispensable redneck accessories like a small pig, red cowboy boots and a sixpack. Turleen admits she’s inbred, and she’s pregnant, so we can only assume she and one of her cousins are closer than they should be.

In 2006 Jerwayne Junior was set loose on the market. He is a true redneck (obviously, dressed as such, always carrying a six-pack with him, and a cigarette in his mouth.

Interested in these redneck dolls? Just go to trailertrashdoll.com and find out more about them.

Japan’s Ice Hotel

Japan opens ice hotel, tourists rush to book rooms.

Following the model of norththern-European countries like Sweden, Japan opened an ice hotel in Alpha Resort Tomamu’s ice village, on Hokkaido Island. The living-rooms, bath-rooms and bed-rooms are all made out of ice, and it costs two people 80,000 yen ($696) to spend the night.

Dinner is served on an ice plate while drinks come in ice glasses, so you have to sip them quickly, before they freeze.

Japan’s ice hotel is not for everyone of course, if you can’t handle the cold, you better not pack your bags just yet. Guests sleep dressed appropriately , in layers and thick winter jackets. If you think you can handle freezing cold, the hotel closes on February 15, so hurry up.

The ice hotel of Hokkaido looks good but it still doesn’t come close to Sweden’s ice hotel.

Neuburg Ice Swimming 2009

The traditional Neuburg Ice Swimming event is considered the biggest swimming event in Europe.

This year over 2,000 brave swimmers from all over Germany gathered in Neuburg an der Donau for the 40th anniversary of the event. Neuburg Ice Swimming 2009 took place on January 31. Europe’s biggest swimming extravaganza featured swimmers desguised as sea-gods, frogs, clowns and other crazy things, and funny messages referring to new US President Barack Obama and the international financial crysis.

As you can see from the photos, Neuburg an der Donau hosted quite a fun event this year.Seems like a breeze compared to the ice swimming in Russia

World’s Largest Chocolate Fountain

The chocolate fountain at the Bellagio, in Las Vegas is simply delicious.

Rising 27 feet above ground, and touching the ceiling, the chocolate funtain in Jean Philippe Patisserie displays a spectacular series of small chocolate waterfalls, filled with white, dark and milk chocolate.

Over 2,100 punds of tasty melted chocolate circulate through this wonder of engineering, at a rate of 120 quats per minute. Designed by award-winning pastry cheff Jean Philippe Maury, the chocolate fountain of the Bellagio took a year and a half in planning and design alone.

Sadly the whole fountain is enclosed by a glass wall, so no, you can’t dip your finger in it for a taste. Maury says the glass maximizes the color of the three types of flowing chocolate.

Wing Bowl 2009

For some Americans the Super Bowl was not the most important sports even of the past week, the Wing Bowl was.

You gotta love Buffalo wings, they’re delicious, but would you get up at 5 in the morning to eat as man as you can? That’s what the contestants of Wing Bowl 2009 had to do in order to win the 17the edition of the event, on January 30.

23-year-old first-timer Jonathan Squibb managed to eat his way through 203 delicious chicken wings, 23 more than the runer-up. Squibb‘s prizes were a brand new Mini Cooper and a very good meal, of course. he said he’ll be back next year to defend his title.

Wing Bowl 2009 took place at the Wachovia Center, in Philadelphia, a town that is said came up with this competition 17 years ago because the locals were getting tired of their sports teams never winning competitions.

I’d enter Wing Bowl over The Big Eat any day.

Rolex Time Sand

Who better to make time sand than one of the world’s most famous time-piece manufacturers, Rolex.

In order for an hourglass to  acurately measure time, its sand would have to be of uniform size and texture. Michael Marcovici used this kind of sand in one of his latest artworks. Famous for stacking 10 million $100 bills on 12 pallets, to offer a view at $1,000,000,000, Marcovici now stacked 972 Rolex Time Sand bags, on 18 pallets. Each bag weighed 30 kg and it would last for 30 days, flowing through an ordinary hourglass.

All the sand bags, weighing over 29,000 kg, represent a generous estimation of an average lifetime, 81 years. The second photo shows the amount of life already consumed by the artist, 39 years.
