Beer-Bike Bar of Amsterdam

The Dutch love to ride bikes and drink beer, so they decided to mix them together and created the Beer-Bike Bar.

Able to accommodate between 10-19 beer lovers, the Beer-Bike Bar is powered by its clients’ pedaling. An increasingly popular party-mobile, the beer-bike is equally popular with both men and women, but it has raised some concerns because of two accidents, since it was launched, in April.

According to Ard Karsten, the manager of the Beer-Bike Bar of Amsterdam, the authorities will certainly realize that although people are allowed to drink in public aboard the beer-bike, they are only served 30 liters. Whether there are 10 or 19 people on board, there are only 30 liters of beer available. The Dutch must all be heavy drinkers, because I have some friends that can get pretty wild after 3 liters of beer. However, the man who steers the Beer-Bike Bar around the city is always sober.

Man Builds Life-Size Bumblebee Transformer

It may not be as cool-looking as the life-size Gundam robot in Tokyo, but, for a home-made statue, this real-life Bumblebee Transformer is pretty awesome.

A big Transformers fan from Lemoore, California, Tom Rhoads decided to build a Bumblebee replica right in his front yard. He started working on the 18-foot-tall statue right after his son was born. Seeing these are financially-troubled times, Tom created the life-size Transformer out of an old Volkswagen Beetle, instead of a brand new Camaro, like in the movie.

Rhoads and a friend worked on this Bumblebee statue for an entire year, then lifted it into position using a crane and reinforced its legs so it wouldn’t fall down.

World’s First Zero-Gravity Wedding

The bride and groom, both sci-fi fans, decided they didn’t want a conventional wedding so they opted for one in total weightlessness.

Noah Fulmore and Erin Finnegan, two love-birds from New York City, spent nearly $20,000 on a 90-minute-long zero-gravity wedding. The ceremony was performed in a modified Boeing 727 jet that takes roller-coaster-style dives, used to simulate the zero-gravity experienced by astronauts in space.

The couple also exchanged wedding rings made out of precious metal from a meteorite that crashed in Namibia 30,000 years ago. They said the experience was everything they hoped for.

Fire-Up That V8

Having your engine die-out on you can be a real tragedy, but knowing you can turn it into a kick-ass grill can make things a lot better.

Trent Whatley had the idea of an engine grill cooking-up in his head for about two years, but due to lack of time and parts he kept putting it on the back burner. One day he did an internet search on the subject and found cars turned into grills and grills powered by car-engines, but nothing like what he was about to build.

With the help of his neighbor, Terry Bacon, they started turning a small block Chevy V8 engine into a mean grilling machine. Pimped-out with a nice flaming paint-job and killer valve covers, Trent Whatley’s V8 Engine Grill managed to capture the attention of everyone at a local car-show.

And here I was thinking the washing-machine grill or the Death-Star Grill were as cool as grills get. This thing is way out of their league.

Red-Deer Butchering in Russia

BEFORE YOU SCROLL DOWN TO THE PHOTOS, BE WARNED, THEY ARE NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED!

Welcome to the village of Salba, 610 km southeast of the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk. This is where 600 Siberian Marals (a subspecies of Red-Deer) lose their antlers every year. These photos, taken June 15 2009, at a private ranch, in Salba, show the marals held in special devices, in order to have their antlers removed with a hand saw.

The antlers are sold to markets in Russia and East Asia, where antler velvet is used as a holistic medicine. Some people consume the antlers themselves, grinding and consuming them in small quantities.

Marals go through this brutal process every year and, even though some say it doesn’t cause them too much pain because they have no nerves in the antlers, I still call it animal cruelty.

La Tomatina – Biggest Food Fight in Colombia

What started as La Tomatina of Bunol, Spain, is now also a popular celebration in Sutamarchan, Colombia and even Dongguan, China.

On June 14, locals of Sutamarchan and many tourists gathered on an old football field to stage Colombia’s biggest food fight of the year. Around 15 tons of tomatoes were sacrificed in La Tomatina this year. The food fight, inspired by the much more famous Tomatina of Bunol, is part of a three day tomato celebration. A tomato-eating contest and a competition for the largest tomato, are also part of the celebration.

Star-Wars Chipmunks

What do chipmunks and Star-Wars have in common? I have no idea, but Canadian illustrator Chris McVeigh though it would be funny to mix them together.

Using a lot of patience and a significant amount of almonds, McVeigh managed to convince these cute, furry rodents to pose with action-figures from the popular sci-fi series Star-Wars. It all started when he befriended a chipmunk trapped in his father’s garden shed. He got quite close to it after a while and realized he could get them to do practically anything.

Great photos by Chris McVeigh and amazing acting by the chipmunks.

Stainless-Steel Baby Accessories

Whether you want some really unique baby accessories for you toddler, or just want to buy him some stuff that will probably last forever, these things are perfect. Of course you’ll also probably have to buy your baby some armor to keep him from getting some serious cuts, but nothing is perfect in this world, right.

I’m sure you’ve realized by now that these stainless steel accessories are nothing more than art exhibits and they couldn’t be used in real life.

Buy 3 Stars, Get 53 Free!

At least that was the case when young Kimberley Vlaminck asked for three stars tattooed near her left eye.

The young Belgian says she went to a tattoo parlor to get three small stars tattooed, but the foreign artist misunderstood her request and left her with 56 stars covering the left side of her face. How could that possibly have happened, you say? Simple, she fell asleep during the procedure and woke up when the artist finished his work.

Now, the guy who tattooed her doesn’t exactly look like the most trustworthy person in the world (he’s the guy in the last photo), but I find it hard to believe someone could fall asleep while getting a tattoo. Nevermind the pain, the noise of the tattoo-gun right next to her left ear would have been enough to keep her awake.

Kimberley says she must have been drugged by Rouslan Toumaniantz, the shop-owner and the guy who executed the tattoo, but he insists the girl specifically asked for 56 stars tattooed on her face. He says the whole scandal started when the 18-year-old went home and showed her family and boyfriend the permanent artwork. They went crazy, so miss Vlaminck returned to the tattoo-shop and accused Toumaniantz of misunderstanding her request.

Now Kimberley Vlaminck is suing Toumanintz for 10,000 pounds, the cost of a laser-procedure to remove his ‘mistake’. Although the tattoo artist maintains that the girl asked for 56 stars, and even brought in a witness to sustain his claim, he agreed to pay half of the procedure costs, just because he doesn’t want an unsatisfied customer.

Kimberley hasn’t accepted his offer yet.

Britney’s British Twin

Some people wish they were Britney Spears for just one day, but Lorna Bliss has spent almost ten years being Britney Spears and she says it’s not all that pretty.

Lorna started out as a Britney impersonator back in 2000 when some of her friends noticed the resemblance. She borrowed some money to dye her hair and buy outfits and started touring nightclubs for 100 pounds a night. After she got her degree she became a full time Britney Spears, trying to copy every detail in the pop idol’s life.

She didn’t marry a Kevin Federline lookalike or have two kids, but she did put on the extra weight, shaved her head and copied Britney’s attitude during her breakdown. She would snap at journalists and even chase them away with an umbrella, just like the pop-star.

Now Lorna is happy Britney Spears is back on the horse and she doesn’t have to look crazy and depressed all the time. She does however have to spend around 15,000 British pounds every month, just to maintain her looks.

There’s one question that puzzles me though…Did she walk around without underwear just like Britney?
