LEGO Chevrolet Camaro

So far we’ve seen so pretty crazy things built out of LEGO pieces, like the LEGO Sushi, LEGO Beijing Olympics and even the world’s tallest LEGO Tower, but a real-size car? Well, yes, a LEGO master that goes by the internet name of Crowkillers managed to build a 2009 Chevrolet Camaro using only advanced LEGO Technic pieces. Although it’s impossible to see it in the photos, the LEGO Technic pieces allow this Chevy Camaro to move around without the use of a hand.

Several thousand pieces went into this LEGO masterpiece and probably hundreds of hardwork, but Crowkillers must be really proud of himself, the LEGO Chevrolet Camaro is a thing of beauty

Bicycles Made Out of Gold

Designers from the Scandinavian firm Aurumania have created a limited series of 10 bikes made out of solid gold.  Each piece of every bike was created by hand and the whole thing decorated with 600 Swarovsky crystals. The bikes all come with a leather seats and horns and they each cost around 80,000 dollars.

I’d buy one of these gold designer bicycles if I knew how to ride one and…if I could afford it.

A Strange Fountain

A new landmark found its way on the map of Chicago and it may make people call it The Shitty City instead of The Windy City.

Installed in front of a residence in Augusta, The Shit Fountain was created by Jerzy S. Kenar, an artist internationally known for his religious sculptures, who has had enough of people not picking up their dogs doo-doo of the streets. So he decided to make a monument for the dogs and created a bronze sculpture that perfectly resembles dog crap.

Most people received The Shit Fountain warmly but their have been people who disapprove of such a display in their neighborhood.

A Look at the Big Picture

The Big Picture is a project by British creative artist Helen Marshall who worked with specialists from PollyTiles to create what may be the world’s largest photo mosaic in central Birmingham. The idea behind The Big Picture was to create the biggest photo album in the West Midlands, where people donated over 110,000 photographs.

The photo mosaic is a new record in terms of size, covering over 3 tennis courts. If you’re ever in Birmingham, you shouldn’t pass the opportunity of seeing The Big Picture photo mosaic unveiled at the city’s ThinkTank in Millenium Park, on August 23rd.

Latest technology in automated agriculture

That’s right folks, if you were lucky enough to stumble across this article, you have the privilege of seeing the latest technology in automated agriculture at work. This invaluable tool comes all the way from Belarus, a country that apparently spares no effort when it comes to investing in new technology.

This revolutionary agricultural device is a state-of-the-art cucumber harvester that uses the newly discovered power of people on their bellies. That’s right, people sitting on their bellies being pulled by a tractor. It’s simple and effective and I for one can’t wait to get my hands on one, cucumber harvesting will never be the same again.

I wish I lived in Belarus (sigh).

Rubber duckies invade London

I can here the Brits screaming “Run for your lives, the blue rubber duckies are attacking!!!”, must have been horrible…Well not really, it was just the annual Great British Duck Race, a charity event where people paid 2 ponds two enlist their rubber ducky in a race on the river Thames.

The prize was 10,000 pounds for the fastest floating rubber duck on the river and all the earnings went to charity. In case you were wondering, the rubber ducks were blue because last year, when they were yellow, people threw their own ducks without paying the fee.

This year’s Great British Duck Race scored a new world record for the most rubber ducks in one place, around 250,000. I wonder who had the “pleasure” of counting them.

The Price of China’s Olympic Success

I always knew being a professional athlete meant making serious sacrifices and that gymnasts don’t really have a childhood, but this like modern day torture to me. It’s nice to compete and win a title for your country but I have to wonder if it’s worth going through all this… As a parent I couldn’t let my kids go through anything like this, no matter how much I wanted them to be successful in sports, it’s just too much.

Bacon chocolate

Believe or not folks Mo’s Bacon Bar by Vosges is not the only bacon chocolate available on the market. It seems people have had enough of traditional sweets and are ready for something new, no matter how weird.

Bacon is I think one of the last things I’d associate with chocolate but, according to what I read about this stuff, it’s becoming quite popular. I for one will stick to just plain milk chocolate, but if you’re interested about Vosgesbacon chocolate visit their website and learn more.

Star-Wars Wedding

I always knew the Star-Wars universe was pretty popular and that there are those that build their entire lives around it, but this is the first time I’ve seen a Star-Wars themed wedding.

You wouldn’t catch me dead at a Star-Wars convention, but from what I see in the photos this Star-Wars wedding turned out pretty cool.

The fabric-covered gas-station

Artist Jennifer Marsh, founder of the International Fiber Collaborative has just finished wrapping an abandoned gas-station in pieces of fabric from all-around the world. The whole project cost $29,000 and a part of the sum came from her own pocket.

She’s now thinking of expanding the organization into other communities, not just Syracusw, New York and her future project will involve covering an abandoned grocery-store in recycled plastic.

World’s First Sand Hotel

The world’s first sand-hotel is open for business on Weymouth beach, Dorset, in England. The 1000 tone-of-sand structure was built in a week by a team of 4 sand-sculptors and is only expected to last until it rains…which, as you probably know, happens quite often in Britain.

The sand-hotel was commissioned by a local travel website that, upon doing some research, found out that 57% of English tourists prefer foreign beach-destinations instead of national ones. So this is like a statement that signifies the rebirth of British tourism. The sand hotel has no roof, so you have a clear view of the star-filled night sky, no toilets and is not recommended for those that hate getting sand between their toes. For an offbeat experience like spending a night at the wonderful sand-hotel, you only have to pay $21, more than a fair price, in my opinion.

And if this doesn’t appeal to you, maybe you’d like to try the ice-hotel? But you’ll have till winter for that one.

Solution to the fuel problem

American auto company Aptera Motors proposes a new solution to the very present fuel problem. Its amazing tricycle-style vehicle runs 100 kilometers on 1 liter of fuel, at a speed of 88.5 km/h. As you can see from the photos, Aptera‘s creation looks interesting at least and it’s quite a beast, reaching 100 km/h in just 10 seconds.

The Aptera trike has these amazing performances due to its extremely low weight, streamed body line and advanced hybrid propulsion systems. You can place an order for an Aptera wonder car on the company’s official page, with just a $500 advance. The car costs around $30 000 and you’ll be able to jump behind the wheel in a year after you’ve placed the order. For this price you get GPS, satellite radio and a DVD player included. Quite a sweet deal, but is the world ready to try something as revolutionary as Aptera‘s machine?

Uneidentified object in London

A strange crater appeared in Potters Field, London on Saturday revealing a strange, unidentified object. The area was soon surrounded by a fence and men in black are guarding the strange machine. Nothing has been revealed about this UFO-looking object that is emitting smoke and strange noises.

All everyone knows about this unidentified object is that is part of the new Insignia launch by Vauxhall. Have they invited aliens to their car launch? That would so bury the competition.

The Tree Goats of Morocco

Did you know goats could climb trees? Well, anyway, I didn’t but it turns out, goats climb trees very often in Morocco.

These Moroccan goats you see in the photos climb the Argan trees with incredible ease, in order to get to the delicious fruits that the locals use to make oil. I knew some things about goats, but the fact that they climb trees was not one of them. And before you start yelling “It’s photoshopped!” check out the video at the bottom.

Mud Day 2008

Playing in the mud, every child’s dream and every mother’s nightmare came true this year in Westland, Michigan during the Mud Day celebrations.

200 tons of topsoil, 20,000 gallons of water and over 1000 children under 12 years old, now this is what I call chaos. Mud Day is the only day of the year when playing in mud is not only allowed but encouraged. Sponsored by Westland Country Parks and Recreation, Mud Day 2008 had several events like a wheelbarrow race through the mud or the crowning of Mister Mud 2008 as well as free activities like kids covering each-other in mud and just wearing mud on their heads.

So remember, next year, if you have a kid under 12 and want to reward him with an entire day of frolicking in the mud, head over to Westland on July 8 for Mud Day.
