Greenpeace vs. Russian Police – Part 2

Believe it or not the same Russian Greenpeace activist got busted by the police again, just days after the first incident.

If there’s one think I admire about the poor environmental activist who faced the Russian police a few days back, it’s his persistence. The man actually got released by the police andreturned in front of Moscow’s City Hall, tocontinue his protest to Russia building incineration plants.

Sadly for the Greenpeace guy he wasn’t more successful than the first time. The police came and picked him up again, this time in a smaller car, so they made him take out his trash-can costume to fit. Third time’s a charm maybe?

Roadside Ass-istance

It may look dirty, but believe me it’s not what you think!

Sasha Grey plays the sexy Catholic school girl perfectly, but somehow that mechanic has nothing but pussy on his mind…the wrong kind of pussy.

The Obama Action-figure

Obama-mania obviously hit Japan as well, as they rush to buy the best Obama action-figure ever.

Barack Obama is already a hero not only for Americans, but also for the Japanese. The Obama action-figure can be found on the shelves of many japanese toy-stores, together with patriotic accessories, like the American flag and changeable palms, to better express himself.

Obama-san also has some damn cool weapons to fight terrorism, political opponents and maybe even the economic crysis.  The new American president comes equipped with a katana (Japanese sword) and wakizashi (long knife), a gun and a rifle, but also with a very cool light-saber, to help him fight his nemesis, Darth Vader(?!?).

The Obama action-figure was created by Hong Kong-based toy company DID Corporation and can be bought online here

China Fights Earthquakes With Cardboard

After the disaster caused by the huge earthquake in May 2008, China is looking for safer schools for its children.

And a possible solution is the temporary schools proposed by Japanese architect, Shigeru Ban. After the terrible earthquake that hit China and caused over 69,000 casualties, Ban brought his ingenious idea to the attention of the authorities, who approved the project. He and a team of Chinese students started building safe schools out of cardboard pillars, plywood roofs and polycarbonate as insulation.

The cardboard and plywood schools are temporary, but in case of an earthquake, should the structures collapse, the materials are nowhere near heavy enough to cause serious injury. The materials used are fireproof and waterproof. Shigeru Ban hopes soon he will be able to build multi-storied buildings out of cardboard.

Barack Obama’s LEGO Inauguration

If you couldn’t watch Obama’s inauguration in person, you can do it at Legoland California.

Over 1,000 figurines and hundredes of thousands of bricks were used to recreate Barack Obama’s hystorical inauguration on the steps of the capitol. Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and their two daughters, Sasha and Malia, are depicted as he takes the oath.

The figurines used in the LEGO recreation of the inauguration were all faceless, but one could recognize famous personalities like, ex-president George W. Bush and his wife Barbara, the next Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband, former president of the US, Bill Clinton, Aretha Franklin and Oprah Winfrey.

The LEGO inauguration will remain on display at Legoland California until May, so you have plenty of time to stop by.

Barbie Got Old

Barbie dolls may be forever young, but the real-life Barbie ages just like every one of us.

The woman you see in the photos is Angelyne, a local pseudo-celebrity in Los Angeles and Hollywood, who compares herself to the famous Barbie. She started gaining notoriety when a series of billboards featuring her started popping up around Los Angeles, in the early 80s. She made an appearence on television, during that time, on an Alan Thicke show, but since then her bilboards got more coverage than she has.

Angelyne drives a pink Corvette with the shortened “ANGLYNE” license plates and has a pink maltese named Buddha. Though it was believed a wealthy husband pays for all the Angelyne billboards around LA, Angelyne, who is single, credits “investors: for financing her advertising.

Angelyne once had a billboard that said “Barbie wishes she were me”. I bet it’s the other way around now.

The New BMW Z4 Paints

BMW presents the new Z4 in an original painting event.

It’s not exactly a Picasso but the Z4 did a pretty good job considering it only had 4 wheels to work with. The wheel-painting may not have come out as good as the BMW people hoped, but the new Z4 is smoking hot and like just about everything the German manufacturer ever launched, it’s likely to be a hit.

Fly-by Beach

Juliana Airport, in the Antilles, has one of the shortest airstrips in the world and, in order to land, planes have to descend down to 10-20 meters above the heads of relaxing tourists on Maho beach. The landing strip is just over 2,000 meters-long, barely enough for large jets to complete their landings.

At the moment the only company flying weekly to Juliana Airport is Corsairfly. Iknow it looks pretty scary and dangerous but so far no incidents have been reported. Maybe just some bleeding ears every once in a while from the sound of the engines.

Show Your Kids The Real World

If you’re one of those parents who want to show their offsprings what the real world is like, from an early age, than here are some great Christmas toys for them. Deadly car accidents, riots, train wrecks, man-slaughter, theft and more are all available for your children. Not the kind of present I’d buy my kids, but maybe there are people out there who are interested.

How Five Years Can Change a Person

Five years may seem like a blink of an eye but this period can really leave some serious marks on a person’s body. Take this guy, Michael Campbell, for example. Here are some photos of him taken when he got arrested back in 2003. Not the type of guy you’d normally see working in a bank, but at least he looks human. Scroll down a bit and you’ll find some new mug-shots, taken in 2008, six weeks ago, after a new arrest. He has been keeping himself busy hasn’t he?

Aerocar – Drive Through the Sky

Finally, a car that really flies.

Aerocar was invented by Moulton “Molt” Taylor in 1956 and got patents both as a road vehicle and as an aircraft that same year. After the original prototype Moulton built three other flying cars, three of which still exist today.  Aerocar is made-up of a small car and a trailer the wings and the fuselage. As you can imagine the car’s engine is pretty powerfull so maybe you can use it in races, with its looks, the opposition won’t know what hit them.

It’s pretty incredible that a flying vehicle has been available in real life for so long, and we only saw similar stuff in sci-fi films. If you’re looking to buy a car like the Aerocar, you might want to visit Aerocarforsale there’s one on sale. If you do buy an Aerocar, remember where you first read about it, fly over and take for a flight.

I must confess I’m a big fan of Asian cuisines, but these photos really kill my appetite. They may be crunchy and full of protein, bugs simply have no place on my menu. If you like’em though, you’ll definitely love these photos:

Pokemon Fanatic

Pokemon was quite a phenomenon a few years back. Kids were trying to collect all the cute monsters from the TV series and pretty much anything related to the popular cartoon. This girl took the the Pokemon motto “Gotta catch’em all” seriously and I think she just may have pulled it off. If not she came pretty close, just look at all the Pokemon and Pikachu stuff she managed to get her hands on. I guess she could open her very own Pokemon Museum, or make a fortune selling it to other fans who I’m sure would love to add to their own collections.

The Pokemon-mobile is by far the most impressive item on this fanatic’s collection. Nicely done, I guess…altghough it is a bit scary.
