You need an exceptional pair of lungs to inflate a tyre tube by blowing air into it through your mouth, but one Chinese man has recently set a new world record by inflating 12 tubes at the same time, with one nostril.
43-year-old Tang Feihu accomplished the impressive feat in just two and a half minutes, during a recent event held at Nanjiang Grand Canyon. The stuntman reportedly started off by inflating 10 tyre tubes with a diameter of over 60 cm, a feat that took him 2 minutes and 39 seconds to complete. After taking a 5-minute break to catch his breath, Tang upped the stakes, this time using one of his nostrils to push air into 12 tyre tubes at the same time. It took him only 2 minutes and 30 seconds to finish the job, a new world record.

It’s not clear whether the time in which Tang Feihu managed to complete his stunt mattered in this world record attempt, as the previous record holder had only managed to inflate 6 tyre tubes at the same time. Last year, we wrote about Nie Yongbing, another Chinese man, who made news headlines for inflating 4 tyre tubes simultaneously. It took him 20 minutes to do this, which makes Tang’s achievement seem all but impossible.
Tang Feihu has reportedly been earning a living by performing all sort of stunts for tourists at various Nanjiang Grand Canyon scenic spots, and decided to try the tyre tube trick after seeing videos of it online. He had practiced martial arts and qigong for many years, so he thought that his breathing techniques might help. It turns out he was right.

On July 5th, Feihu contacted London-based World Record Certification Agency (WRCA) to have his record attempt certified. A month later, on August 12, a WRCA officer was present to oversee the stuntman’s performance and later presented him with official record certificate.
