An Italian man who went for a walk to cool off after getting into an argument with his wife was found 420 kilometers from his home, after walking for a whole week.
The 48-year-old man from Como, a city north of Milan, in Italy, reportedly got into a heated argument with his wife one day, late last month, and stormed out of the house to go for a walk and clear his head. Nothing out of the ordinary about that, only the protagonist of our story never actually stopped walking. He was only stopped a week later, by a police patrol car in Gimarra, on the Adriatic coast, 418 kilometers away from his home town.

The policemen were reportedly patrolling the streets of Gimarra, to ensure that people were complying with the nationwide curfew imposed in Italy, when they noticed a lone man walking at two a clock in the morning. They stopped the car, asked him a few questions and ended up taking him to the local police station, where they identified him and found out that he had been reported missing by his wife. It was at this point that the man told them the story of his epic walk…
The man said that he had gotten into a fight with his wife a week prior and has stepped out for a walk, to clear his head. Only he never really stopped. Without using any type of transportation, the man covered a whopping 420 kilometers by foot, in just seven days. That’s an average of 60 kilometers a day.
“I walked all the way,” the man reportedly said. “I didn’t use any means of transportation. All these days I survived on food and drink offered to me by kind people along the way. I’m fine, I’m just a little tired.”
After hearing his unusual explanation, the police decided to let him go, but not before notifying his wife and also handing him a fine of 400 euros ($490) for breaking the curfew. They even got him a room at a local hotel, where he spent the night until his wife arrived to pick him up.
It must have been a long drive home…
