A mischievous horse has gained legions of fans online thanks to his ingenious way of avoiding being ridden – he drops to the ground in a very dramatic way and plays dead until the would-be rider walks away.
It’s unclear whether Jingang, “the world’s most melodramatic horse” was trained to play dead to amuse tourists, or if he just developed this talent himself, but one thing is for sure – he is really good at it. As soon as someone tries to ride him, Jingang’s legs buckle and he drops to the ground. Sometimes he even closes his eyes, leaving just his flaring nostrils as proof that he’s only playing around. Not even a tasty carrot will make Jingang break character, as demonstrated by his trainer in on e of the several videos of his antics doing the rounds online these days.
The first video of Jingang doing his “play dead routine” dates back to 2015, when it was a uploaded to YouTube by a user named Kenneth G. In the top comment, a Korean-speaking viewer explains that the horse only starts playing dead after he gets tired of giving people rides, and even though he loves carrots and sugar cubes, he won’t touch them while he’s acting. He apparently only breaks character when there’s no one close to him or when his saddle has been removed. Pretty smart for a horse, right?
Considering all the footage of Jingang is from South Korean television SBS, it’s safe to assume that he lives on a farm in the Asian country. He’s been getting a lot of attention worldwide over the past few weeks, after a Facebook video uploaded by one Fernando Salazar got over 23 million views. People juts can’t get enough of his acting skills.
“This is literally me, pretending to be asleep when my mom shouts from downstairs to wash the dishes,” one person wrote.
“That horse is a genius, wish I could just do that every time someone I don’t like comes near me,” someone else commented.
“He’s not lazy. Here’s smart. Why carry such a heavy load when you can get away with it,” another commenter posted.
